Have you heard of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals? In 2015, the UN identified 17 SDGs with the explicit purpose to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure peace and prosperity for all by 2030. To get there, they set 169 targets and 232 performance indicators. While the UN’s scope is global in nature, many of the 17 SDGs are directly related to our local efforts at Nourish.
Nourish is happy to introduce our new Peterborough Culinary Collaborative! With the generous support of the United Way of Peterborough and District’s Innovation Fund, we will pilot a new collaborative to train 14 women so that they can access meaningful and stable employment, and become food secure.

Over 50 years ago, Frances Moore Lappé, a young American social worker, argued that there was more than enough food to feed everyone in the world. What needed to change was how food was distributed and the kind of foods eaten. 2021 was the 50th anniversary printing of her book, Diet for a Small Planet, which is every bit as relevant today as it was in 1971.
