Nourish's Digital Smarts program supported seniors in developing digital literacy skills.
Now more than ever, we are connected by technology. However, our access to this technology is not equitable, and has reinforced the digital divide.
Many seniors have no access to the internet, or have limited skills when navigating the web with their devices.
Given the importance of digital literacy skills to under-represented populations, MediaSmarts and YWCA Canada partnered to develop DigitalSmarts, a digital literacy skills program. Nourish modified this curriculum to be delivered over Zoom during the pandemic, and has geared it specifically to seniors.
Our version of the Digital Smarts program was a series of eight hour-long workshops designed to provide the foundational skills required to use the internet safely and effectively.
