Initially designed for seniors, Nourish’s Peer Navigators series brought people with shared experiences together to share food and learn the skills they need to advocate for themselves and others. Topics included: rights and responsibilities of tenants, health referrals, nutrition, income supports, or technology and social media.
Here’s what participants from our Senior Navigators series had to say about the program:
“We never used the common room in our building before the series started, and now we meet every Thursday and bring our dinner down and all eat together since most of us live alone.”
“There used to be a lot of conflict at one of the buildings, and I mean cops and all, but since the series, there hasn’t been one incident. People are talking to each other now.”
“After I learned how to use the computer, I was able to connect with my daughter through Facebook! We talk together through there and even visit with each other now too!”
